GarageVault ("we", "our", or "us") operates the GarageVault mobile application for Android and iOS. Your privacy is a core architectural priority. GarageVault is engineered as an offline-first application designed to preserve total ownership of your vehicle data locally on your device.

When you use GarageVault, the data you enter is stored directly inside local app databases on your mobile hardware. This information includes:
- Vehicle Information: Make, model, year, VIN, trim, license plate, and assigned vehicle nicknames.
- Log Entries: Fuel fill-ups, distance, price per volume unit, maintenance services, diagnostic records, and general expenses.
- Attached Documents: Photos of registration papers, insurance policies, maintenance receipts, and title records.
- Application Preferences: Theme settings, measurement units (miles/km, gallons/liters), and reminder configurations.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
GarageVault does not operate external account creation servers for core functionality. We strictly do NOT collect or transmit:
- Account passwords, banking credentials, or credit card details.
- Government identification card images (e.g., driver's licenses).
- Personal address books, text messages, or contact lists.
4. Camera & Photo Access
GarageVault requests explicit runtime permissions for camera hardware or media storage access solely when triggered by direct user action:
- Camera Usage: Triggered only when you choose to capture a receipt, photo of a replacement part, or vehicle profile picture directly within the app.
- Photo Picker: GarageVault utilizes modern OS-level system photo pickers (e.g., Android Photo Picker) to allow file selection without reading your entire media library.
5. Local Storage & Encryption
All stored records reside within isolated application sandboxes provided by iOS and Android operating systems. Your data remains on your physical device unless you explicitly initiate a manual backup, export, or cloud sync service configured in future app releases.
6. Third-Party Services
GarageVault may integrate standard platform developer tools to maintain application stability:
- Google Play Services / Billing: Handles optional in-app purchases and license verification securely.
- Crash Diagnostics (Optional): Anonymous, non-identifiable crash logs via Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose software bugs if enabled by the user.
7. Your Rights & Control
You maintain total authority over your records. You have the right to export your dataset as CSV/JSON at any time or erase all application data by executing a factory reset in app settings or uninstalling the app from your mobile device.
